WING CHUN: (Beautiful Springtime) A form of KUNG-FU invented by a Buddhist nun in the fifteenth century. Because it was originally intended for women, tactics and techniques play a far greater role than brute strength. The object of Wing Chun is to defend the center of the body, where all the vital organs are located. It employs very rapid punches but only three leg techniques, which are used to attack the lower body. Wing Chun was mastered and popularized by BRUCE LEE, who created his own style, JEET KUNE DO (The Way of the Intercepting Fist) based on Wing Chun. (See also Kung-fu article).
